THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION HAD BAD EFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT
Air Pollution, water pollution and disease
The Industrial Revolution had some ill effects on the environment. Air pollution rose because of the factories, the great use of fuel, in populated areas. Coal and iron ore were burned to run steam engines, and petrol was used to run cars. These types of things resulted in carbon emissions in the air. Other types of pollutions also brought problems many medical problems. For example, sewer systems that were built polluted water sources in other cities. The sewer systems they had were not properly disposing of wastes. This problem was linked to many diseases such as typhoid, a fever that causes rashes and diarrhea, and cholera, as disease that causes watery diarrhea. The death rate from typhoid was 36 per 100,000 people. In 1832, there was an outbreak of cholera because of the overcrowding and unsanitary conditions in cities.
